Description:
The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR), an award-winning nonprofit newsroom that includes Mother Jones, Reveal, More To The Story, and CIR Studios, is seeking a skilled Revenue Operations Specialist to support its digital revenue and email marketing operations. CIR is dedicated to investigative journalism that informs the public, drives accountability, and strengthens democracy through impactful storytelling.
This role sits at the core of CIR’s revenue operations team, focusing on email marketing execution, campaign trafficking, and technical support across multiple digital platforms. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in email development, automation workflows, and audience segmentation, along with the ability to manage cross-channel digital campaigns efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
• Email Marketing Production & Deployment:
• Build, design, and deploy responsive email templates using the organization’s email service provider (ESP)
• Perform quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy, functionality, and design compliance
• Coordinate creative inputs and troubleshoot technical issues in email builds
• Advertising Trafficking & Campaign Operations:
• Manage display advertising campaigns through Google Ad Manager
• Publish sponsored content and ensure proper formatting and compliance with requirements
• Coordinate podcast advertising workflows, including asset collection and trafficking through PRX Ad Operations
• Maintain campaign tracking and support performance reporting and analysis
• Manage operational workflows using Asana
• Membership Automation & Integration:
• Develop and optimize automated email workflows and segmentation strategies
• Translate business requirements into structured automation logic
• Support API integrations between ESP platforms (Sailthru) and fulfillment systems
• Monitor and document automation performance for continuous improvement
• Membership Program Support:
• Assist with newsletter deployment and technical platform support
• Support CRM and database management for data accuracy and consistency
• Provide backup support for email and digital publishing operations
• Email List Health & Deliverability:
• Manage segmentation, suppression lists, and subscriber data integrity
• Monitor deliverability metrics and resolve inbox placement issues
• Maintain secure and optimized email signup systems
Requirements:
• Experience:
• 3–5+ years of experience in email marketing, automation workflows, or revenue operations
• Technical Skills:
• Strong proficiency in HTML/CSS for email development
• Experience with automation tools and ESP platforms such as Sailthru, Klaviyo, or Iterable
• Knowledge of segmentation, lifecycle workflows, and behavioral targeting
• Familiarity with APIs, CRM systems, and data integrations
• Tools Experience:
• Google Ad Manager (preferred)
• Salesforce (preferred)
• Asana project management tool
• Soft Skills:
• Strong communication and documentation abilities
• Ability to explain technical workflows to non-technical stakeholders
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
• Work Conditions:
• Remote position (United States only)
• Working hours: 11 a.m.–7 p.m. ET / 8 a.m.–4 p.m. PT
