Hiring Captive Manager

Location – Dubai, UAE

Job Summary – The ideal candidate is a technically capable individual with a client centric background who will be responsible for the operational management of captive client portfolio and support the growth of this business segment. Seeking a highly experienced professional with a robust background in the Mauritius market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the re/insurance/underwriting/claims functions for the portfolio of a Captive entity.
  • Perform operational UW roles including setting risk appetite, acceptance guidelines, documentation, pricing, risk reporting, exposure accumulation and modelling.
  • Perform claims operational roles including maintaining claims trackers, investigation, negotiation, reporting and settlement, liaising with clients, adjusters and reinsurers on technical claims matters
  • Lead operational reinsurance functions including captive reinsurance program design, reinsurance buying and administration.
  • Maintaining the required data related to risk registers, claims bordereaux, reinsurance bordereaux, premium balances and other operational data related to the captive.
  • Data analysis and leveraging its insight to guide future captive management decisions
  • Performance management and monitoring against agreed benchmarks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Regular communication and reporting to relevant stakeholders including management, regulators and captive owners.
  • Participate and lead client value creation discussions
  • Support new client origination activity, particularly as it relates to captive insurance.
  • Contribute to group-wide initiatives at a local and global level to increase the performance of the business.
  • Required Qualifications & Experience – Bachelor’s degree in finance, risk management, insurance, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CPCU, ARM, ACI) are advantageous.
  • 12 years of experience in insurance and risk management, including captive insurance operations.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Attain underwriting performance targets set by respective captive entities such as combined ratios, premium growth, expense ratios, and underwriting margins.
  • Attain service level and client satisfaction targets.
  • Ensure accurate claims reserving adequacy.
  • Compliance and regulatory adherence.
  • Introduce and execute initiatives that drive operational efficiency.
  • Leveraging data and analytics to guide decision making for internal and external stakeholders.
