Description:
A leading maritime organization is looking to hire an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their finance team in Dubai. This role is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in financial reporting, multi-entity accounting, and VAT compliance, particularly within the shipping or maritime sector.
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting across multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee full month-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation
• Prepare and reconcile balance sheet schedules and profit & loss statements, including detailed variance analysis
• Perform bank reconciliations across multiple currencies and resolve discrepancies efficiently
• Record and reconcile intercompany transactions, ensuring balances are accurate and properly documented
• Handle vessel-related financial activities such as voyage costs, charter revenues, and multi-currency accounting
• Manage VAT processes, including preparation, filing, documentation, and audit support
• Prepare audit schedules and maintain readiness for internal and external audits
• Ensure the integrity of the general ledger with accurate postings and timely clearance of outstanding items
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
• Professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CA are preferred
• 5–8 years of accounting experience, ideally within the shipping or maritime industry
• Strong hands-on experience with month-end closing and supporting schedules
• Mandatory experience in VAT preparation and filing
• Experience working in multi-entity and multi-currency environments
• Solid understanding of IFRS standards
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
