Description:
Cordell Partners is partnering with a rapidly growing energy sector organization based in ADGM, Abu Dhabi, to recruit an experienced and technically strong Financial Controller. This senior leadership position offers the opportunity to work closely with executive management and play a key role in shaping the company’s financial direction and operational excellence.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and internal controls while leading a team of finance professionals. This role is ideal for a strategic finance leader who combines strong technical accounting expertise with proven people management capabilities.
Candidates with experience in asset-intensive industries such as energy, offshore, infrastructure, or shipping will be particularly well suited for this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six finance professionals
• Partner with senior leadership to support financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities
• Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate financial reports in accordance with IFRS standards
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, reporting requirements, and corporate policies
• Strengthen and maintain robust internal control procedures to safeguard company assets
• Manage group reporting processes and support strategic financial decision-making
• Drive continuous improvements across finance operations and reporting frameworks
Requirements:
• Fully qualified ACA or ACCA professional
• Strong background in audit, preferably with Big 4 experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing accounting or finance teams
• Exceptional analytical, technical accounting, and financial reporting skills
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and growing business environment
Strong knowledge of:
• IFRS and technical accounting standards
• Financial reporting and group consolidation
• Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Internal controls and compliance frameworks
• Corporate finance and financial governance
• Previous experience within Energy, Offshore, Infrastructure, Shipping, or other asset-heavy sectors is highly advantageous
