Description:
Loggerhead Risk Management LLC is seeking an experienced and detail-focused Senior Accountant to join its accounting and finance team. The role involves managing complex accounting activities, maintaining reliable financial records, supporting accurate financial reporting, and providing financial information that assists management with business decisions.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and organizational abilities, excellent attention to detail, and a practical approach to solving accounting issues. The position also requires the ability to meet deadlines, contribute to process improvements, and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record monthly journal entries while maintaining the general ledger and supporting accurate financial records.
• Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Review balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain fixed asset, prepaid expense, and other supporting schedules required for financial reporting.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple operating and investment accounts.
• Investigate outstanding reconciliation items and monitor daily cash activity.
• Assist with cash forecasting and coordinate with treasury and operational teams to ensure transactions are properly recorded.
• Prepare accounting entries related to insurance premiums, claims, and commissions.
• Assist with annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
• Analyze actual results against budgets and forecasts and prepare management reports and financial analysis.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance industry.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• Experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of:
• GAAP and SAP accounting standards.
• General ledger accounting and financial reporting systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Process automation or financial system implementations is preferred.
