Role Overview:
We’re looking for a hands-on Staff Accountant to maintain the general ledger, support month-end and year-end close activities, and manage both AP and AR processes. The ideal candidate has agency or media experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to improve accounting workflows while keeping day-to-day transactions accurate.
Key Responsibilities:
• Bookkeeping & Cash Management: Process daily bank activity, prepare cash reports, and move funds for AP/payroll as required.
• Credit Card & Payroll: Provide weekly credit card transaction packs for coding and record bi-weekly payroll journal entries (including employer liabilities and expenses).
• Revenue & Expense Recognition: Validate project completions for revenue recognition and identify expense accruals during project closeouts.
• Reconciliations: Import and reconcile credit card transactions, and perform balance sheet reconciliations for cash, payroll liabilities, deferred revenue, accruals, prepaids, and equity accounts.
• Month-End Reporting: Review the income statement for accuracy and prepare commentary for management review.
• Accounts Payable: Code and route vendor bills, execute weekly check runs, reconcile AP integration with QBO, and support vendor onboarding and special payment requests.
• Accounts Receivable: Manage client billing, produce AR reports for leadership, and handle collections follow-up.
• Year-End Tasks: Prepare, run, and audit 1099 filings.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement: Work with other teams to gather financial information, resolve discrepancies, and help streamline accounting processes.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 2–3 years’ accounting experience with emphasis on AP/AR, GL maintenance, payroll accounting, and reconciliations — agency or media experience preferred.
• Practical experience preparing journal entries, analyzing accounts, and reviewing financial statements.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable identifying process improvements and implementing more efficient workflows.
