Senior Accountant – United States (Remote)
H2O.ai is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing finance and accounting team. This role is central to supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency, while contributing to the scaling of a leading-edge accounting function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support general accounting and month-end close activities
- Prepare timely and accurate journal entries and reconciliations across prepaids, payroll, equity, intercompany, and accruals
- Provide fluctuation analysis on key accounts
- Handle compliance tasks for US and international subsidiaries, including tax filings, audits, global payroll, and other international filings
- Participate in special projects such as system optimization and implementation
- Cross-team support in general accounting functions like accounts payable and accounts receivable for vacation coverage or backup
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Public accounting background (Big 4 or equivalent) preferred, or demonstrated technical accounting expertise
- 5+ years of experience in general accounting, preferably in software/technology industry
- Experience with accounting systems such as SAP S/4Hana, NetSuite, Carta, Ariba, Navan, Concur
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and core accounting principles
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF) and proficiency with cloud-based financial tools
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment
Preferred / Standout Qualifications:
- Experience with multi-entity or international operations
- CPA or CPA-track
- Experience with financial automation or ERP optimization projects
- Experience performing monthly balance sheet and income statement flux analysis
- Experience in public company or public accounting with technical accounting and internal control knowledge
