Description:

Pet Supplies Plus is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Pet Care Support Specialist to help maintain high-quality pet care standards across its organization. This remote role supports pet care training, new store development, existing store operations, and compliance initiatives while serving as a subject matter expert in animal care practices, protocols, and processes.

The successful candidate will work closely with field leadership, internal teams, and operational partners to ensure consistent execution of pet care standards across stores. The role requires strong communication skills, knowledge of animal welfare, and the ability to travel frequently to support store visits, audits, and training activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of pet care training programs.

• Support onboarding and ongoing education for store teams and leadership.

• Ensure training materials align with company standards, care protocols, and regulatory requirements.

• Support pet care readiness for new store openings, including habitat setup, care standards, and training execution.

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure pet care requirements are achieved before and after store launches.

• Provide ongoing guidance and issue resolution support to existing stores.

• Partner with field leadership to address pet care risks, improvement opportunities, and corrective actions.

• Develop and distribute clear pet care communications for store teams.

• Audit pet partners and store locations to ensure compliance with care standards and regulations.

• Document audit findings and support corrective action planning.

• Track trends, risks, and improvement opportunities related to pet care operations.

• Support internal teams by providing reporting, expertise, and guidance for pet care initiatives.

• Create and update pet care protocols, guides, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements:

• 3–5 years of experience in pet care, veterinary support, or specialty retail operations preferred.

• Strong knowledge and passion for exotic pet care, husbandry, and animal welfare.

• Experience supporting field operations, training programs, or audit processes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and influence outcomes without direct authority.

• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
