Description:

DeSimone Consulting Engineering is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their growing team on a full-time remote basis. This role plays a critical function in ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations across multiple international and domestic locations. The successful candidate will manage payroll processes, tax compliance, reporting, and collaboration with HR to maintain data accuracy, while supporting broader financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer biweekly and semi-monthly payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees, including calculations for earnings, deductions, garnishments, and taxes
  • Act as the subject matter expert on payroll systems and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Partner closely with HR to ensure accurate payroll data for employee changes
  • Conduct reconciliations of payroll entries with general ledger and prepare journal entries for monthly and year-end close processes
  • Maintain accurate records for tax filings (941s, W-2s) and payroll-related schedules for tax returns
  • Liaise with government agencies to ensure proper registration and compliance
  • Perform internal audits of payroll data within Deltek and UKG platforms
  • Support compliance for 401(k) audits, non-discrimination testing, and year-end reconciliations
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for payroll tasks
  • Handle timekeeping systems, employee record updates, and data audits
  • Review and resolve payroll discrepancies, process manual adjustments, and issue off-cycle payments as needed
  • Manage wire transfers and funding for payroll, 401(k), HSA, FSA, and benefit provider invoices

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
  • At least 4 years of experience in multi-state, multi-corporation payroll processing
  • Proven expertise in payroll tax laws, accounting principles, and timekeeping compliance
  • Required experience working with UKG Pro
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Compensation & Benefits:
This salaried, exempt position offers a compensation range of $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Most new hires are expected to fall around the midpoint of the range.
