Description:

AIP Publishing is seeking a dynamic Associate Publisher or Publisher to lead the strategic growth and development of a portfolio of academic journals. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the future of scholarly publishing by improving editorial quality, strengthening researcher engagement, and supporting innovation across scientific communities.

The successful candidate will manage journal strategies, collaborate with editors and internal teams, analyze performance data, and drive initiatives focused on open science, research integrity, and improved user experiences. This position requires strong knowledge of scholarly publishing, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute strategies for assigned journals while aligning with portfolio goals and publishing performance metrics.

• Monitor industry trends and conduct competitive analysis to support journal growth and positioning.

• Collaborate with editors to guide editorial content strategies and ensure research relevance.

• Develop author, reviewer, and editor engagement strategies to improve retention and participation.

• Serve as a key liaison between AIP Publishing and editorial teams, addressing concerns professionally.

• Manage editorial board activities, including recruitment, onboarding, renewals, and performance reviews.

• Support organizational initiatives related to product development and process improvements.

• Analyze journal performance data and develop data-driven reporting solutions.

• Promote editorial best practices and support knowledge sharing across teams.

• Mentor junior team members and contribute to team development initiatives.

Requirements:

• Minimum 4 years of experience in scholarly publishing with proven experience managing journal portfolios.

• Strong understanding of peer review workflows, research integrity standards, and academic publishing practices.

• Experience working with researchers, editors, and academic communities through outreach, conferences, or similar activities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage senior researchers and editorial boards.

• Strong analytical skills with experience using Excel and PowerBI for performance tracking and reporting.

• Experience with peer review platforms and CRM systems is preferred.

• Strong project management and organizational skills, especially in remote or distributed environments.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.

• Willingness to travel for conferences and professional meetings when required.
