About the job

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely financial processing, supporting Client Service Teams and interacting with clients as needed. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, and facilitating revenue uploads through various integrations. The position also entails recording payroll transactions, preparing journal entries, and contributing to the monthly close process, all while ensuring compliance with processing and reporting deadlines. Collaboration with engagement teams to enhance efficiencies and additional assigned tasks round out this vital accounting function.

Responsibilities

  • Review and code client bank and credit card transactions for accuracy
  • Investigate and resolve transactions lacking sufficient information for accounting entries
  • Process and manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring correct categorization and timely payments
  • Analyze and document credit card statement activities for comprehensive financial records
  • Record payroll activity and related tax information using payroll register reports
  • Accurately input financial data generated from various reports into clients’ accounting systems
  • Conduct month-end account reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy
  • Review and correct miscoded transactions and other accounting errors
  • Maintain general account upkeep, including updating transaction coding rules
  • Verify and keep customer, vendor, and employee lists current
  • Support and collaborate with team members, providing client interaction as needed
  • Utilize automation and cloud-based accounting systems for timely information processing
  • Assist with financial analyses and account reconciliations for the monthly closing process
  • Adhere to strict deadlines to ensure consistent financial reporting
  • Collaborate with engagement teams to enhance accounting processes and efficiencies
  • Handle special projects and additional tasks as directed

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Associates degree in Accounting
  • A minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping experience required; experience serving multiple clients simultaneously preferred
  • Experience with accounting software / ERP technology is required; Quickbooks Online experience is preferred

Essential Functions

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position as needed
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and at client offices to access file cabinets, office machinery etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and exchange information with internal and external actors as needed
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel to local and non-local clients as needed, overnight travel may be required
