We are hiring Head Midwife
Key Duties:
Manages the Labour and Delivery Unit and its staff of midwives, nurses and health care assistants. Liases with the Nursing Supervisor and Nursing Director as required in providing supervision and direction for the total management of L&D Department. Functions in accordance with legislative and hospital policies and guidelines relevant to midwifery practice and assumes responsibility and accountability for own actions and clinical decisions making.
Main Responsibilities:
- Performs all duties of the registered midwife, senior registered midwife plus the following:
- Provides effective leadership and assists other Nurses and Midwives in the assigned Department:
- Ensures and assists other Nurses / Midwives in the care that is delivered to each patient in accordance with the DHA, JCIA & GPH, Nursing Standards, Code of Conduct, and Nursing Policies and Procedures.
- Ensures and assists in staff compliance with hospital/unit policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines from DHA, GPH and JCIA.
- Participates in activities that ensure the competency of the staff and the hospital’s care management program.
- Ensures and assists the Nursing Supervisor in proper staffing for the department of responsibility.
- Demonstrates good management techniques in established lines of authority
- Demonstrates maturity and accountability for job performance. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the L&D and assess areas of personal and professional growth.
- Supports and promotes excellence in customer/guest relations, promoting the organization’s Infection Control Program.
- Supports in promoting the organization’s Risk Management program & Safety Program
Qualification & Skills:
- A Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Midwifery.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a first-line manager coupled with 5 years of Charge Nurse Experience required.
- Requires knowledge of DHA, and JCIA standards related to healthcare organizations.
- BLS and ACLS provider to follow within 3-6 months.
- Must be flexible with work schedule.
- Demonstrate strong leadership abilities.
- Arabic language is an asset but not required.
- Have current licensure as a professional registered nurse in DHA and in the country of origin.
- Nurses on the Western-payroll must have successfully completed the three-year Registered Nurse Training Certification and post-registration specialty training program for the assigned specialty.
- All other nationalities are required to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
