VMware Administrator (Remote – Fulltime)

Location: Austin, TX

Duration: Long Term

We are seeking a highly experienced VMware Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. You will play a key role in managing, optimizing, and maintaining our VMware infrastructure for efficient and reliable business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and manage VMware vSphere components (vCenter Server, ESXi hosts, vSAN, etc.) to create a robust virtualized environment.
  • Manage virtual machines (VMs) including provisioning, cloning, migration, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Monitor and optimize VM performance, ensuring resource utilization efficiency and resource allocation.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard the virtualized environment from cyber threats.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting of VMware infrastructure issues.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting tools (PowerCLI) for increased efficiency (Preferred).
  • Provide technical support to internal users regarding their virtualized resources.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in VMware technologies and best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with other IT professionals to ensure seamless operation of the virtualized infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of demonstrably successful experience as a VMware Administrator or a related role.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent experience (Preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware vSphere architecture, components, and functionalities.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization concepts and best practices.
  • Experience with VM provisioning, migration, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with storage area networks (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS) technologies (Preferred).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting VMware infrastructure issues and resolving VM performance problems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the ever-evolving VMware landscape.
