 SSHE Manager (Safety, Health & Environment)

POSITION SUMMARY

• Has overall functional accountability for SSH&E performance at site level
• Has a strong influence on the behavior of the team as a whole and the selection of Safety, Security, Health and Environment. Promotes SSH&E values and creates ownership & engagement at all levels, from Site Management Team to front-line staff. Leads a network of SSH&E Professionals, and guides provision for SSH&E services.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure training and coaching is provided to managers and team leaders to help them take ownership, and lead & manage SSH&E within their area of responsibility.
• Develop & coordinate SSH&E networks of professionals, champions and SMEs. Develop their functional and leadership competencies.
• Ensure compliance is regularly audited and performance assessed, and the results used to drive further improvement.
• Engage with external stakeholders (e.g. regulatory bodies, trades unions, NGOs) on SSH&E topics to build long term, positive relationships.

Functional responsibilities:

• Took ownership of SSH&E and drove change through personal leadership.
• Analyzed complex problems to identify multiple root causes.
• Influenced behavioral change in a unit/organization.
• Translated policies & standards into practical action plans.
• Coached individuals and teams in different environments.
• Led management system audits.
• Held one or more people (or project) management positions.
• Worked in operational environment (e.g. factory, DC).
• Communicated effectively with different organizational levels.
• Took proactive approach to anticipate issues or improve current practices.
