Position Overview
More Perfect Union is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Social Media Fellow to join our distribution team and help us to engage and grow our audience on a daily basis. Our team moves dozens of pieces of content every day to inform more than 4 million followers, and the Social Media Fellow will play an essential role in supporting this work and keeping our schedule on track. This individual will be responsible for posting engaging video and graphics content across social media platforms, supporting our graphic design team by ideating and creating eye-catching and informative graphics, contributing to rapid response efforts, and conducting original research.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Distribution: Work closely with the social media team to distribute video content, graphics, memes, and other formats across social media platforms throughout the day, working efficiently to keep up with a fast news cycle.
- Graphic Design: Create high-quality visual content to captivate and connect with our audience.
- Research: Support the social media team through original research, including identifying current news, trends, and social media best practices to improve our presence on various platforms.
- Strategic Planning: Assist in developing and executing both short-term and long-term strategies for social media that align with broader organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Passion for, and substantial knowledge of, national politics and economic justice issues.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign) and demonstrated experience in creating graphics for social media.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, with a strong understanding of current trends.
- An excellent writer, communicator, and researcher with an eagerness to educate and inform More Perfect Union’s audience.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a social media team.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of following directions and meeting tight deadlines.
- Available full-time hours and able to excel in a remote/work-from-home environment.
