Description:
Little Spoon is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate, Inventory Accounting, to join our finance team. As our first dedicated inventory accounting hire, you will play a critical role in establishing inventory accounting processes and systems, ensuring accurate valuation, and supporting a growing and complex supply chain. This role partners closely with Finance, Operations, and external partners to drive improvements in working capital and implement scalable inventory controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end inventory accounting across all products, locations, and channels
  • Collaborate with Operations to understand physical flows and align accounting processes with operational realities
  • Perform monthly inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and COGS analysis
  • Maintain and enhance inventory controls including physical counts, standard costs, and cutoff procedures
  • Provide actionable insights through improved inventory reporting for purchasing, demand planning, and working capital decisions
  • Work with 3PLs and co-manufacturers to ensure accurate inbound/outbound inventory reporting
  • Lead inventory components of monthly and annual closes and support year-end audits
  • Develop scalable SOPs for inventory and cost accounting processes in preparation for ERP implementation
  • Collaborate with FP&A and Finance team to improve margin reporting and forecasting
  • Support cross-functional projects related to inventory including new product launches, supplier transitions, and SKU rationalization

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in inventory or cost accounting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and inventory accounting principles (FIFO, weighted average, standard costing)
  • Experience in manufacturing, CPG, or food production environments
  • Advanced Excel skills; ERP and inventory management system experience preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to link granular data to business insights
  • Strong communicator, able to collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance
  • Bonus: experience supporting ERP implementations or inventory system transitions
