Job Description

Are you an individual who has extensive Automotive Technician Service knowledge and Dealership Service knowledge? Are you aware of what makes a GREAT experience for a student to take their education to the next level in their career path for automotive service? MSX is seeking an individual who will be responsible for recruiting apprentice technicians for assigned dealers to meet or exceed dealership capacity requirements. Responsibilities

  • Act as an advocate for Volvo Car USA and their dealerships, with accredited schools, leveraging these partnerships to create a new pipeline of technicians through the Volvo Technician Apprentice Program.
  • Strategize with and update dealers and Volvo field staff on technician pipelines.
  • Work with accredited automotive programs and local dealerships to recruit technicians for local Volvo dealers.
  • Meet with the students and attend career fairs with a dealer partner, when possible
  • Assist with introducing dealerships to local schools
  • Promote the Volvo LMS, set up and enroll apprentice technicians in the Volvo LMS.
  • Identify each career center in the region that has an automotive program, to establish a relationship.
  • Meet with the department chairperson to go over the school obligations and to make sure they are following the business model
  • Visit each assigned accredited school in the region on a regular basis
  • Attend college graduations if recruiting opportunities are available
  • Work with Volvo dealerships to market the Volvo Recruitment initiatives in the area.
  • Support Volvo Car USA field teams with technician recruiting presentations or events.
  • Attend local vocational schools’ media events around grand openings or vehicle donations.
  • Support ad-hoc events where technician recruiting is taking place (e.g., Car Shows, Racing, TechForce Foundation events).
  • Promote Volvo Car USA recognition and co-op programs.
  • Assist in placement of Military program graduates.
  • Assist in placement of Vo-tech graduates.
  • Develop relationships with dealership personnel who are engaged in technician recruiting and sourcing to fill openings utilizing https://www.volvogroup.com/en/careers.html.
  • Assist dealerships with technician job postings on https://www.volvogroup.com/en/careers.html.

Qualifications

  • Recruiting or job placement experience preferred.
  • Automotive dealership experience preferred but not required.
  • Technician experience preferred but not required.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter and have a great degree of flexibility as the focus may shift from building foundational relationships with schools and dealers to building a pipeline of candidates for the future.
  • Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within the dealership and at educational organizations.
  • Strong ability to be self-directed and work independently, with strong organization and documentation skills.
  • Skilled with common workplace and database software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, Access, Power Point, etc.).
  • Ability to develop presentations for executive management summarizing data collection and process recommendations.
  • Social media and network savvy.
  • Public speaking proficiency.

EDUCATION

  • Must be fluent in English (additional foreign languages a plus).
  • Tech School, Automotive Certificate, Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Additional Information

Must be able to travel up to 80% of the time.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate may not have been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At MSXI, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is 70k to 105k based on current experience.
