ZemiTek is currently seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our growing team. This full-time position requires a professional with a strong background in high volume, multi-state payroll processing, particularly with Deltek Costpoint (8.2) and ADP’s Workforce Now. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting on a team with all aspects of payroll processing for our multi-state organization. Salary $85,000 – $95,000 a year with the starting salary determined based on candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and education.
- Process multi-state payroll using Deltek CostPoint and ADP.
- Verify time sheets, calculate wages, overtime, and leave accruals.
- Ensure timecards are approved, meet deadlines and upload hours into ADP.
- Maintain and update payroll systems and ensure adherence to timekeeping practices.
- Ensure compliance with payroll laws and safeguard Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Work with ADP’s Smart Compliance to set up new state withholdings and unemployment accounts. Ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and maintain payroll records and reports for internal and external use.
- Generate payroll journal entries for posting to general ledger, and support audits.
- Develop internal control systems to ensure data integrity.
- Resolve payroll issues and respond to employee inquiries.
- Train staff on payroll systems and procedures.
- Participate in payroll system upgrades and testing.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Document payroll procedures.
- Perform accounts payable tasks and reconcile credit cards.
- Assist with reconciliations of payroll accruals, and PTO (Paid Time Off) accrual entries and balances for the Company.
- Address accounting issues and support financial reporting.
- Respond to payroll and financial inquiries.
- Assist with annual audits and support the accounting team.
- Enhance accounting systems and workflows.
- High School Diploma with a minimum of eight (8) years payroll/accounting experience or a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience in accounting experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Deltek/Costpoint and ADP a MUST
- Extensive experience processing payroll on a semi-monthly basis as well as out-of-cycle payrolls.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and best practices.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Preference for experience in government contracting payroll compliance.
