Job Title: Network Administrator

Location: Remote (with occasional travel required, including international travel)

Reports To: Infrastructure Manager

Job Summary:

As the Network Administrator, you will be managing and maintaining our company’s network infrastructure across 50+ locations in North America. This role will primarily involve remote work, with some travel to different sites as needed, including occasional travel to other countries. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Ubiquiti networking equipment, SonicWall firewalls, and other networking technologies, along with excellent troubleshooting abilities and in-depth knowledge of network protocols. Additionally, the Network Administrator will be available on an on-call basis, with occasional weekend work, collaborate closely with various departments, handle occasional procurement tasks, manage vendor relationships, oversee network monitoring, ensure timely patching of network appliances, and maintain VOIP and port security systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Management: Administer and monitor the performance of networking equipment, including Ubiquiti switches, access points (APs), and cloud keys. Ensure the reliable operation of the network across multiple locations.
  • Network Monitoring: Continuously monitor the network infrastructure to detect potential issues, optimize performance, and ensure uptime. Implement and manage monitoring tools to proactively address performance and connectivity issues.
  • Network Appliance Patching: Regularly apply security patches and updates to network appliances, including firewalls, switches, routers, and other hardware, to ensure system integrity and protection against vulnerabilities.
  • Firewall Management: Manage, configure, and troubleshoot SonicWall firewalls to maintain secure network operations.
  • Site-to-Site Connectivity: Maintain and troubleshoot site-to-site VPN connections to ensure seamless communication between remote locations.
  • Network Protocols: Maintain a deep understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols, applying this knowledge to resolve issues and optimize network performance.
  • Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools such as Wireshark to troubleshoot network and connectivity issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations.
  • ISP Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for ISPs, managing services, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and coordinating installations or upgrades.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, configurations, and detailed records of network infrastructure and changes.
  • Security: Work with the IT Security team to ensure the security of the network infrastructure, including performing regular updates and patches for hardware and software.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Network Administrator or in a similar role, with a strong background in managing and troubleshooting network infrastructure. 2-3 years of experience.
  • Firewall Management: Hands-on experience with SonicWall firewalls, including setup, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Networking Protocols: In-depth understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols, etc.).
  • Network Monitoring Tools: Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix) to proactively track and manage network health and performance.
  • ISP Collaboration: Experience working with ISPs to manage and troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to interact effectively with internal teams, external vendors, and service providers.
  • French Language Skills: Ability to speak French is a plus, but not required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent networking certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with cloud-based network management tools and solutions (Azure virtual networks).
  • Familiarity with additional firewall and security solutions.
