Overview:
We are inviting applications for a committed Lab Assistant to join our school’s science team. This role supports teachers and students by ensuring practical lessons run smoothly, safely, and with the right materials. The ideal candidate will help create an environment where hands-on learning can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers with setting up and dismantling experiments, demonstrations, and practical activities.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, glassware and consumables; restock supplies as needed.
- Support student supervision during practical lessons under teacher guidance to ensure safety and correct procedures.
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of lab apparatus, and report any larger issues to the appropriate staff.
- Maintain inventory records and perform routine checks to ensure equipment is available and in good condition.
- Keep the lab clean and compliant with health and safety standards, including proper disposal of waste and labeling of materials.
- Assist with minor administrative tasks related to lab sessions, such as logging resources or preparing materials lists.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Enthusiastic and student-focused, with a genuine interest in supporting practical science education.
- Detail-oriented and safety-conscious, able to follow instructions and lab protocols precisely.
- Good communicator and team player, comfortable liaising with teachers, support staff and students.
- Previous experience in an educational setting or laboratory support role is advantageous but not essential.
