Join Our Team as an Import Export Purchase Agent

Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Import-Export Purchase Agent to join our procurement team. The Import-Export Purchase Agent will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating the shipment of goods internationally. This role requires strong negotiation skills, knowledge of import-export regulations, and the ability to manage relationships with suppliers and logistics providers effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Source and purchase goods and materials from international suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate import and export shipments, including arranging transportation, preparing shipping documents, and managing customs clearance procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, shipments, and customs documentation.
  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues that may arise during transit.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments (such as logistics, finance, and sales) to forecast demand, plan inventory levels, and optimize supply chain efficiency.
  • Stay updated on international trade regulations and compliance requirements to ensure adherence to import-export laws.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain high standards of quality and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage the end-to-end import and export process, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements.

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience as an Import-Export Purchase Agent, Import-Export Coordinator, or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and logistics.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems; experience with trade management software (e.g., SAP GTS, Descartes) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
