Description:

Appalachia Intermediate Unit 08 is actively seeking motivated and qualified individuals to join their team as Part-Time Virtual Learning Facilitators. This is a remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to teach students virtually from anywhere. These are 12-month part-time roles ideal for educators passionate about delivering engaging, interactive online instruction.

Successful candidates will be dynamic educators who embrace best practices in virtual teaching, demonstrate strong communication skills, and enjoy working collaboratively in a team-focused environment.

Preferred Subject Areas Include (but are not limited to):

  • World Languages: ASL, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Portuguese, Spanish
  • Core Subjects: Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, English/ELA
  • Electives

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver live, virtual classes using Zoom and other video conferencing tools
  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous instruction via a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Design and implement lessons based on research-driven instructional methods
  • Customize class activities to meet student interests, needs, and learning goals
  • Collaborate with peers and administrators to maintain high-quality learning experiences

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Teaching certification in the relevant subject area (PA Department of Education or equivalent) is strongly preferred
  • Experience in virtual learning or instructional design is desirable
  • Must have valid Act 34, Act 114, and Act 151 clearances, along with acceptable Act 168 background checks

Working Conditions:

  • The role requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting
  • Must be comfortable operating computers and managing multiple tasks in a remote setting
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are essential
  • Ability to engage with diverse learners and interpret complex educational documentation
