Description:

WE’RE HIRING | VIRTUAL FINANCIAL PLANNER (REMOTE – USA)

MainStreet Financial Planning is one of the largest independent, fee-only financial planning firms operating on a subscription, project-based, and hourly model. Since 2002, the firm has been dedicated to delivering unbiased, conflict-free financial advice without AUM fees or product sales. Our mission is to make high-quality financial planning accessible to middle-income Americans while fostering a supportive, flexible, and people-first work environment for our team.

As an all-women–led and managed firm, MainStreet Financial Planning believes meaningful careers and full personal lives can coexist. We are a tech-forward organization continuously refining systems and tools, including our proprietary Money Roadmap planning process—an interactive framework that keeps clients engaged and confident in their financial decisions over time.

We are currently seeking an experienced, client-focused Virtual Financial Planner to join our collaborative, remote team. This is a client-facing advisory role centered on delivering comprehensive financial planning in a non-sales, mission-driven environment—ideal for advisors who want to focus on advice, impact, and long-term client relationships without managing a solo practice or selling products.

Opportunity Overview:
• Take over and manage an established book of ongoing clients
• Meet with prospective clients, guide them through the planning process, and close new engagements
• Deliver real financial planning without commissions, AUM, or product sales
• Work within a proven, technology-enabled planning framework supported by paraplanning and operations teams
• Contribute ideas to enhance planning processes, client experience, and firm initiatives
• Build a sustainable, long-term advisory career with flexibility and work-life balance

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and serve clients using MainStreet’s Money Roadmap planning process
• Lead virtual client meetings and present clear, actionable recommendations
• Prepare financial projections, reports, and scenario analyses
• Translate complex financial, tax, and investment concepts into relatable guidance
• Support client implementation and follow-ups through structured workflows
• Conduct meetings with prospective clients and successfully onboard new relationships
• Collaborate closely with paraplanners and operations team members
• Participate in marketing and brand-building initiatives, including blog writing and social media engagement
• Contribute to thought leadership and collaboration within the financial planning community
• Maintain a strong team-oriented mindset aligned with firm-wide success

Qualifications & Skills:
• Minimum 5 years of direct client-facing financial planning experience
• CFP® certification required
• Experience advising clients in their 30s, 40s, and 50s during wealth-building stages
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with high emotional intelligence
• Ability to thrive in a remote, self-directed environment while collaborating with a team
• Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working within structured systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Experience with financial planning software; MoneyGuidePro preferred

Compensation & Benefits:
• Full-time W-2, salaried, non-commission position
• Competitive salary based on experience
• Eligibility for 401(k) plan with employer match after 12 months
• Alternating 4-day workweeks to support work-life balance
• Comprehensive onboarding and structured client transition
• Ongoing mentorship, collaboration, and professional development
• Supportive, inclusive, and engaging all-women–led team culture
• Fully remote role — no commute required

Hiring Timeline & Application Process:
• Target hire in Q1 2026 with full onboarding by Q2 2026
• Applicants should submit a resume and cover letter outlining three qualities they bring to the role
• Candidates are requested not to contact team members directly
• All applications are reviewed by senior management to ensure a fair and consistent process
