Job Overview:
The Eastern Shoshone Tribe is seeking a caring and organized Virtual Classroom Assistant to support early childhood virtual therapy and learning for children aged 3–5, including those with disabilities. This full-time role follows the program calendar and works closely with virtual therapists to deliver planned activities and encourage active participation through a laptop and internet connection.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Encourage and support young children to participate actively in virtual therapy sessions.
  • Prepare and set up materials required for planned activities, following written lesson plans to maximize learning opportunities.
  • Provide culturally responsive experiences that help children understand their own and others’ cultures.
  • Organize and facilitate activities that promote problem-solving play, social interaction, and engagement in age-appropriate tasks.
  • Observe and document children’s interactions and learning using the program’s online curriculum; use observations to extend play and plan individualized activities.
  • Maintain a consistent and organized schedule for virtual service delivery.
  • Collaborate with virtual therapists and specialists (Speech-Language, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Early Childhood Special Education) to plan, implement, and review individualized program plans.
  • Use positive guidance strategies, such as redirection and verbal reinforcement, to support behaviour and engagement.
  • Assist with classroom observations, developmental screenings, and documentation as requested.
  • Coordinate with external partners (e.g., Head Start, other preschool programs) and participate in joint planning when needed.
  • Confidently use videoconference tools, email, and other software required for remote delivery.
  • Occasionally provide transportation to/from children’s homes following car-seat safety procedures.
  • Occasionally help with snack/mealtime preparation, light clean-up, and supervision during classroom, outdoor play, or bus activities to ensure children’s safety and wellbeing.
  • Represent the program at community events outside of standard hours when required.
  • Adhere to Wyoming mandatory reporting laws for suspected child abuse or neglect and maintain strict confidentiality for children and families.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.
