Description:
Greater Philadelphia Health Action, Inc. (GPHA), a non-profit healthcare organization, is hiring a Full-Time Virtual Assistant to support its healthcare operations across multiple locations in Philadelphia. This role is ideal for candidates who have experience in medical environments and are passionate about providing compassionate support to patients and healthcare teams.
The selected candidate will assist with patient coordination, electronic health record management, scheduling, telehealth support, and various administrative and clinical support activities. Candidates with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a healthcare setting are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
• Extract vaccine information from Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and maintain accurate patient records.
• Perform scheduling and tracking activities for pending laboratory work, immunizations, referrals, and patient care requirements.
• Assist with Telehealth registration, patient preparation, and basic triage support.
• Support patients with education and preparation for referral procedures.
• Obtain pre-certification authorization codes for diagnostic procedures when required.
• Schedule patients with internal healthcare providers accurately.
• Complete clerical and clinical tasks through EHR task management systems.
• Participate in care gap closure projects and healthcare improvement initiatives.
• Provide backup support to patient service representatives when needed.
• Operate telephone and paging systems professionally.
• Welcome and assist patients, visitors, guests, and representatives with professionalism.
• Update patient demographic information accurately and maintain timely records.
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working in a medical or healthcare setting.
• Ability to type at least 60 words per minute.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients.
• Ability to make independent decisions and work effectively with healthcare teams.
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and patient data management
• Healthcare scheduling, referrals, telehealth registration, and administrative support
• Medical documentation, patient communication, and office procedures
