The US Medical Billing Specialist will report directly to the Director of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM). This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States, working Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST. The role is essential in ensuring accurate billing, timely reimbursements, and full compliance with healthcare regulations related to home health services.
Key Responsibilities:
Billing & Claims Submission:
• Prepare, review, and submit accurate medical claims to insurance providers, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payers
• Ensure correct usage of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, and applicable modifiers
• Stay current with billing regulations and payer requirements specific to home health services
• Process and track claims using billing software and claim submission platforms
Accounts Receivable Management:
• Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid, delayed, or denied claims
• Investigate discrepancies, manage denials, and prepare appeals when necessary
• Generate reports related to outstanding accounts receivable and payment trends
Compliance & Documentation:
• Ensure all billing activities align with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations
• Verify insurance eligibility, patient information, and authorization requirements
• Maintain accurate billing records and documentation for audits and reporting
Communication & Coordination:
• Collaborate with internal teams, healthcare providers, and insurance payers
• Communicate clearly with patients regarding billing questions and financial responsibilities
• Respond promptly and professionally to billing-related inquiries
Requirements & Skills:
• Strong knowledge of home health billing processes and reimbursement guidelines
• Hands-on experience with EHR systems and medical billing software
• Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid billing regulations
• Experience using claim submission platforms such as Medicare DDE and clearinghouses
• Solid understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient data confidentiality
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
