Job Overview:
The Underwriter will help develop the financial elements of Request for Proposal (RFP) responses, collaborating with Senior Underwriters and cross-functional partners to gather the data and analyses required to build competitive, finance-driven proposals. This role acts as a subject-matter consultant on financial and operational guarantees and maintains positive working relationships across Sales, Client Engagement, Pricing, Trade Relations, and other internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and evaluate documentation and data necessary to produce pricing for moderate to complex RFP responses.
- Analyze utilization and historical financial performance for current customers and prospective clients.
- Perform claims re-pricing and financial analyses using external claims datasets.
- Maintain clear documentation of pricing decisions and prepare reports as needed.
- Contribute to the development of pricing methodologies, financial models, and reporting tools to support business objectives.
- Support other related tasks and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. HS diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in finance, accounting, underwriting, or a closely related function.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Additional Qualifications:
- Strong comfort with mathematical concepts used in underwriting (discounts, proportions, percentages, and applied business mathematics).
- Ability to present analyses and respond to questions clearly in one-on-one or small-group settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to documentation and the ability to justify pricing assumptions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a PBM (pharmacy benefit manager) environment.
- Familiarity with Salesforce.com or similar CRM tools.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Target pay range: $59,000 – $94,000 (final offer depends on experience, location, and skills).
