Description:
Mainstay, a leading AI-native market intelligence platform for the single-family rental industry, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our team. As part of our mission to redefine real estate with AI, you will help design, build, and ship complex systems that enable teams to operate at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute to all phases of product development, from ideation and prototyping to implementation and iteration
• Build and enhance frontend product experiences and backend services supporting them
• Design reliable and scalable backend systems for production features
• Modernize and automate legacy workflows in the real estate sector
• Define and deliver impactful features in partnership with cross-functional teams
• Mentor and support the growth of other engineers on the team
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and operators to solve customer pain points
Requirements:
• 7+ years of experience delivering production-grade software, preferably in fast-paced startup environments
• Strong full-stack engineering skills with a focus on backend scalability and reliability
• Experience designing, building, and evolving scalable systems and services
• Excellent communication skills, suited for a remote, collaborative team
• Proactive, ownership-driven, and comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities
• Customer-focused mindset with a drive to build practical solutions
• Strong Python background; experience with TypeScript and React is a plus
• Experience with workflow automation or complex data integration is desirable
