Description:
Financial Foothold is seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to manage and execute critical components of the month-end close across multiple client accounts. This is a hands-on accounting role that requires independent judgment, technical proficiency, and the ability to maintain accurate financial records in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Month-End Close
• Own assigned portions of the month-end close process
• Prepare, post, and document journal entries
• Perform and review bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies or unknown transactions
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records
• Escalate complex accounting issues as needed
QuickBooks Online (QBO)
• Manage multiple client files in QuickBooks Online
• Oversee bank feeds, transaction workflows, and rules
• Ensure correct account classifications and chart of accounts usage
• Identify and correct prior-period errors
• Maintain supporting documentation for balance sheet accounts
Excel & Financial Analysis
• Use Excel to support reconciliations, analysis, and reporting
• Build and maintain schedules, rollforwards, and variance analyses
• Apply advanced Excel functions including XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF formulas, and pivot tables
• Analyze large datasets from QBO to identify issues and trends
Client & Internal Communication
• Respond promptly to routine client accounting inquiries
• Request and follow up on missing documentation
• Provide clear status updates on assigned tasks
• Collaborate with Bookkeepers and Senior Accountants for smooth handoffs
Process & Quality Control
• Follow established SOPs and workflows consistently
• Document work clearly for review and continuity
• Identify opportunities for process improvements
• Maintain accuracy, organization, and responsiveness standards
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Solid understanding of accrual-basis accounting
• Experience with journal entries and account reconciliations
• Ability to manage multiple client deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail, strong organization, and time-management skills
• Comfortable working independently and proactively
