Your Role: Consultant to department/group in resolving difficult problems. Leads project teams through analysis, formulation of recommendations and write-ups prior to release. Responsible for implementation of goals and objectives and provides input to timetable for deliverables. Directs discovery, evaluation and makes recommendations (and presentations) for changes.

As a Sr. Product Specialist in State Product Management, you will be the subject matter expert influencing the personal lines auto and property product performance in your assigned states. You will help drive profitable growth by identifying business needs, formulating solutions to business problems and ensuring product compliance. You will be conducting research, creating and maintaining product documents and documentation, and working with internal and external customers to successfully roll projects out to your markets.

Your Work

  • Subject Matter Expert charged with identifying emerging trends and issues. Works in highly consultative role and presents issues to senior management. Typically assigned to complex, cross-functional projects and provides mentorship and training to less seasoned team members.
  • Performs complex analysis of assigned function or business area and translates findings into appropriate applications, such as process change, prototypes and analytic reports. Engages less senior staff to do preliminary work and report out findings.
  • Provides interpretation and insight on proposals. Evaluates findings and guides outcome (cause-effect-effort to implement). Role is to be business consultant to client.
  • Uses stellar research and analytical skills and ability to present to various management levels and train staff on logic used in new tools, approaches to market changes and responding to legislative changes.
  • Crafts complex policy language with minimal assistance from Legal.
  • Builds relationships/collaborates with business partners within and across divisions (e.g., IT, Marketing, Departments of Insurance, etc.) and provides them with general direction and coordination for functional area.
  • Reviews insurance policy contracts, documents, specifications, requirements, letters, reports, records, filings and/or other documentation created by others for adherence to regulatory, quality, and other standards.
  • Assignments may vary.

Required Experience, Education And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or other relevant subject or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of analytical or other relevant experience in related industry; multiple functions experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience essential
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to conduct meetings and deliver formal presentations
  • Organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Skills to coach, mentor, evaluate and provide training, guidance and constructive feedback to staff
  • Basic knowledge of HR policies, procedures and regulations
  • Superior analytical and processing skills with ability to review and direct analysis or produce other work product
  • Expert knowledge of insurance concepts and strong strategic planning.

  • MBA/Master’s degree in related field and/or CPCU designation
  • Knowledge of insurance and ability to read and interpret complex laws and regulations CSAA IG product knowledge.
  • 2 – 3 years leadership and mentoring experience
  • Proven research and analytical (quantitative and/or qualitative) skills with ability to perform analysis and propose solutions to complex issues.
  • Strong adaptability, multi-tasking, time management and project management skills.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills, including composition, spelling and grammar.

  • Ability to coach and mentor co-workers and give feedback as required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Sharepoint.

  • Travels as needed for role, including divisional / team meetings and other in-person meetings
