Description:

The University of Miami/UHealth Central Business Office is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Medical Biller to join their team remotely. This role involves processing billing information, maintaining quality control of data, and assisting with training and supervising staff while ensuring compliance with University policies.

Core Job Functions

  • Assist management in training new staff members
  • Run weekly reports on accounts to monitor and minimize discrepancies
  • Verify all claims and ensure timely resolution of edits
  • Report monthly billing area edits to managing staff
  • Ensure compliance with controls so no charges are missed
  • Reconcile payments and verify accuracy at clinics
  • Enter charges promptly and review encounters for completeness
  • Correct inaccurate vouchers and reconcile daily voucher reports
  • Adhere to University and departmental policies while safeguarding assets

Department Specific Functions

  • Review and release all physician charges from assigned workloads promptly
  • Verify encounter information including patient demographics, insurance details, place of service, referrals, claims, and managed care authorizations
  • Run insurance eligibility checks and resolve registration issues
  • Manually enter paper vouchers for missing charges
  • Correct erroneous or rejected charges
  • Distribute credits from patient payments as required
  • Assign charges to appropriate cases and phases
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in medical billing or related field
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures and principles
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Relevant education, certifications, or additional experience may be considered
