Homebase Medical is hiring a Senior Accountant to support our mission of delivering in-home medical and chronic care to older adults. This role focuses on ensuring accurate, timely accounting and analysis across monthly close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial schedules — and supports audit, tax, and regulatory requirements. You’ll partner with FP&A and finance leadership to explain variances, maintain controls, and improve processes that support the organization’s financial integrity.
Responsibilities Include:
- Lead month-end general ledger close activities, account analysis, and preparation of schedules for interim and year-end reporting.
- Maintain accounting records and reconciliations with clear supporting documentation in line with company policy and US GAAP.
- Review and validate departmental Expenditure Tracking Reports and ensure supporting documentation substantiates accruals; prepare monthly accrual entries as needed.
- Prepare and post journal entries for bank activity, accruals, reclasses, prepaid/lease amortization, depreciation, intercompany settlements, allocations, and related items.
- Participate in monthly close meetings to discuss accruals, timelines, and provide analytic support explaining fluctuations versus budget/prior periods.
- Support interim and year-end audits and tax processes by preparing schedules, organizing documentation, and assisting with inquiries (including escheatment / unclaimed property and business personal property filings).
- Contribute to special projects, automation efforts, and reporting improvements to streamline processes.
- Help develop and update accounting policies and controls, identifying opportunities to strengthen processes.
- Cross-train with accounting team members to provide backup coverage for key functions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on general accounting and expense accruals and maintain professional knowledge through ongoing learning.
Qualifications And Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience; background ideally includes Big 4 audit experience plus private industry exposure.
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 842 (leases), fixed assets, and business personal property practices.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed account reconciliations, balance sheet analysis, and administrative expense review.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas) required.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills; able to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Healthcare, CMS, or Medicare environment experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Oracle, Concur, SQL, Access, and Outlook is advantageous.
