Position Purpose
The Software Engineer II at The Home Depot is responsible for independently developing and supporting products that enhance customer and associate experiences. You will work within a dynamic team of engineers at varying experience levels, building technical and leadership skills while designing, deploying, and maintaining production applications. You may also be involved in configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning, and monitoring of production systems.

Key Responsibilities
Delivery and Execution (60%) – Collaborate with UX, engineering, and product teams to develop secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions. Document and review work to meet quality and change control standards. Write custom scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring, and testing processes. Perform destructive testing to ensure production resiliency. Configure commercial solutions to meet business needs. Develop dashboards, alerts, and logging for proactive issue management.
Learning (20%) – Continuously seek opportunities for professional growth through both formal and informal channels. Learn from successes and challenges while addressing new problems.
Plans and Aligns (20%) – Collaborate in agile processes, assist in improving team workflows, and build partnerships with diverse groups to achieve shared objectives.
• Design and develop AI and machine learning models and algorithms to solve business challenges.

• Reports to Software Engineer Manager or Senior Manager
• No direct reports
• No travel required

Physical & Working Conditions
• Mostly seated work with opportunities to move around; occasional light lifting

Minimum Qualifications
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications
• 1–3 years of relevant experience
• Expertise in AI and machine learning, including model development and application
• Strong programming skills in Golang, Python, and React
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform components such as Vertex AI, BigQueryML, and AutoML
• Knowledge of data preprocessing, ingestion, and model evaluation
• SQL proficiency and experience with relational databases
• Experience in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP), CI/CD tools, microservice architecture, and security frameworks
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Experience with RESTful web services and high-availability production systems

Education
• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field
