Description:
Commerce, the parent company of BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift, is seeking a talented Software Engineer II to join our Identity & Access Management (IAM) Team. This role offers full-time remote work across the United States, with a hybrid option for those near Austin, TX.

As part of the IAM Team, you will design, build, and maintain services that manage authentication and authorization across Commerce’s platform for merchants, partners, and internal systems. The position primarily involves working with Ruby, with opportunities to engage in Go, Scala, PHP, and React + TypeScript. Our infrastructure includes REST APIs, gRPC, microservices, and internal deployment tools. You’ll see your ideas through from concept to delivery in a highly collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Craft High-Quality Solutions: Develop reliable, maintainable code that forms the foundation of our services and ensures positive user experiences.
Contribute to Technical Initiatives & Solve Challenges: Improve system performance, enhance query efficiency, and focus on security best practices.
Support Architecture & System Evolution: Collaborate with operations and senior engineering teams to evolve scalable back-end services and understand key product components.
Engage in Technical Excellence & Strategy: Participate in technical discussions to explore solutions and align approaches with business and product goals.
Foster a Culture of Quality: Uphold software quality and security through code reviews, testing, and knowledge sharing.
Collaborate and Grow: Work closely with team members to enhance skills, share expertise, and contribute to project success.

Who You Are:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
Experience & Autonomy: 2+ years of software development experience, with growing independence in delivering work.
Technical Proficiency: Strong experience in Ruby, with familiarity or interest in TypeScript/React, Scala, or Go.
Development Lifecycle Knowledge: Comfortable with continuous integration and the full software development lifecycle.
Scalable Systems Knowledge: Understanding of high-performance, resilient web services and eagerness to grow in this area.
Collaborative Spirit: Works well in Agile/Scrum teams with diverse stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Passion: Enjoys tackling challenging problems in a supportive team setting.
Thoughtful & Communicative: Proactive, results-driven, with clear communication skills.
Curiosity and Growth Mindset: Excited to learn new technologies and approaches.
