Description:
Carta Healthcare is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong, production-level expertise in Python to join its growing engineering team. This role is fully remote within the United States and offers the opportunity to work on impactful healthcare technology products that support health systems nationwide.
In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services and systems. You will collaborate closely with product stakeholders, internal teams, and customers to deliver high-quality, well-documented solutions that align with business objectives and the company’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain core backend services, APIs, and data workflows
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand product and business requirements
- Use product insights to influence system design and architectural decisions
- Create and maintain technical diagrams, documentation, and whiteboarding artifacts
- Maintain and monitor infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices
- Apply security best practices, ensure thorough testing, and implement observability using tools such as Datadog
- Perform detailed code reviews with a focus on quality, correctness, and maintainability
- Mentor junior engineers and promote high standards in coding and documentation
Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in Python with proven experience in production environments
- Solid understanding of backend systems, APIs, and modern web architecture
- Experience with documentation and diagramming tools such as Lucid
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to deliver reliable software in a fast-paced environment
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer
Nice to Have:
- Experience with or interest in Go programming
- Exposure to data processing, ML, or AI-related workflows
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
