Role:
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will work within a cross-disciplinary, self-motivated team focused on building scalable, high-quality software. Your contributions will help shape CB Insights’ next-generation market intelligence platform. You will be responsible for writing maintainable code, optimizing search infrastructure, and contributing to a collaborative remote team environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop features for CB Insights’ market intelligence platform with a focus on search infrastructure, query optimization, relevance, and indexing strategies for large-scale data.
• Deliver well-engineered, tested, and maintainable solutions frequently and consistently.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and collaborative problem-solving sessions.
• Work closely with the product team to understand business requirements and implement technical solutions.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Go or Python for building scalable backend applications.
• Hands-on experience with containerized microservices using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Expertise in writing and executing unit and integration tests.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Datadog.
• Proficient with cloud services, particularly AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda).
• Familiarity with Agile and Lean principles in cross-functional remote teams.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Familiarity with Apache Kafka for real-time data processing and integration.
• Knowledge of search technologies, full-text search, or distributed data systems.
• Understanding of information retrieval concepts such as relevance scoring, ranking, and query optimization.

Compensation:

• Base Salary: $140,000 – $173,000 USD
• Eligible for bonus opportunities.
