Description:
TeamSnap, a leading sports and communication platform, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Fullstack) to join our fully distributed engineering team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend and fullstack systems that power millions of users across mobile and web platforms. You’ll work on Node, Elixir, Ruby/Rails, TypeScript, React, SQL, and other technologies to deliver robust systems for youth and amateur sports organizations globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop engaging, high-performance experiences for millions of users on web and mobile
- Design and implement scalable apps and services integrated into a unified product architecture
- Collaborate with product and UX teams to brainstorm and evaluate new features
- Pair with other developers to solve problems, share knowledge, and improve team skills
- Uphold development standards, ensure code quality, and identify areas for improvement
- Champion automated testing and take ownership of backend system reliability
- Participate in on-call rotation and support incident management efforts
- Evaluate and test new technologies to improve platform performance and user experience
- Support teammates in overcoming blockers and completing tasks efficiently
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience leading large projects in high-scale distributed software systems
- Strong backend development skills in Node, Elixir, Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/JavaScript, and React
- Proficiency with SQL and relational databases (MySQL / GCP Cloud SQL), including migrations and optimization
- Hands-on experience developing APIs and services for mobile and web applications at scale
- Experience architecting APIs, event streams, webhooks, and distributed systems
- Extra points for experience with payments, registration, or communications services
