Description:
DuckDuckGo, a remote-first online protection company, is seeking a dedicated Senior Privacy Engineer to join our Privacy Functional Team. Founded in 2008 and profitable since 2014, DuckDuckGo prioritizes user trust, inclusivity, and project ownership. Our products include a privacy-focused browser, search engine, and Privacy Pro. As a Senior Privacy Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of privacy technology projects and contribute to protecting millions of users globally.
Your Role:
- Lead complex privacy projects from proposal to post-mortem
- Develop pragmatic, performant, and testable code using Go, Node.js, Python, and occasionally Perl
- Design systems that improve search indexes and AI features without compromising user privacy
- Build and enhance features on the Tracker Radar crawler to identify emerging privacy threats
- Implement new privacy features and maintain existing protections, such as Web Tracking and Email safeguards
- Collaborate remotely with peers and cross-functional teams, including legal, product, and marketing
- Participate in privacy reviews and audits to ensure all developments align with DuckDuckGo privacy principles
- Mentor other engineers and support career growth within the Privacy Team
About You:
- Proven ability to lead and execute high-impact, complex projects
- Skillful at solving vague problems, proposing innovative solutions, and collaborating effectively
- Experience developing privacy solutions (e.g., tracker blockers, differential privacy, or similar technologies)
- Knowledge of privacy review and audit processes
- Deep understanding of online privacy threats and protections
- Proficiency in Go, Node.js, or Python
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base Salary: $178,500 USD annually
