Description:
ActiveProspect is seeking a detail-oriented Senior GL Accountant to join its growing Accounting team in Austin, Texas. The role will cover a broad range of general ledger activities, including software capitalization, prepaids, cash, fixed assets, accounts payable, leases, debt, investments, intercompany transactions, payroll, and other financial accounts.
The successful candidate will support accurate and timely financial reporting while partnering with FP&A, Payroll, PeopleOps, Legal, and other teams. This position is well suited to an analytical and adaptable professional who can independently investigate discrepancies, improve accounting processes, and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across various general ledger accounts.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Perform flux and variance analysis using data analytics and AI-enabled tools.
• Partner with FP&A, Payroll, PeopleOps, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate financial information.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and stronger internal controls.
• Support external audits, system implementations, special projects, and other accounting initiatives.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar accounting role.
• Experience in a high-growth SaaS environment is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA qualification is a plus.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets.
• Hands-on ERP experience; NetSuite experience is preferred.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to audit-ready documentation.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet month-end deadlines.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
• Willingness to use AI tools responsibly to improve efficiency and work quality.
• Strong knowledge of:
• General ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• US GAAP, internal controls, and month-end close processes
• Excel, ERP systems, NetSuite, and financial data analysis
