Description:
Citizen, the #1 public safety app in the US with over 15 million users, is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our team. Our mission is to protect the world by delivering real-time safety alerts powered by verified 911 data, live updates, and AI-driven analysis. Our platform supports hospitals, corporate security teams, and nationwide retailers, providing enhanced situational awareness and faster response times.
About The Role:
• Work in a fast-paced, adaptive environment where speed, impact, and reliability are essential
• Design and build scalable, modular systems with high availability and low latency
• Take operational responsibility for services you develop with an owner’s mindset
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver consistent real-time experiences
• Maintain high standards of code quality, perform code reviews, and balance product tradeoffs
• Split work across frontend and backend systems (approx. 60/40)
Technical Stack:
• Mobile: Swift (iOS), Kotlin (Android)
• Web: React.js, TypeScript
• Backend Services: Go (transactional), Python (analytical)
• Datastores: MySQL, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Memcached, Redis
• Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform
Requirements:
• Proven experience building performant web applications
• Strong skills in Javascript and modern web frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, Ember, etc.)
• Some backend API development experience (Node.js or Go preferred)
• Demonstrated technical ownership and leadership
• 5+ years of engineering experience, primarily in fullstack development
