Description:
Paylocity, a leading provider of cloud-based HR and payroll software, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Product & Technology team. This is a fully remote role, allowing you to work from anywhere within the U.S. while collaborating with a dynamic team focused on enhancing our all-in-one software platform and improving the employee experience.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will leverage your expertise in AI, machine learning, and data analytics to extract insights from large datasets and develop solutions that empower clients to make smarter human capital decisions. You will work closely with Product Managers, Software Development teams, and Enterprise Architects to translate complex HR and business challenges into actionable data science projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and optimize machine learning models using methods such as regression, time series analysis, random forests, gradient boosting, and neural networks
- Utilize big data technologies on AWS and Microsoft Azure, including Databricks and Spark
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data-driven solutions
- Create automated data pipelines and custom performance tracking tools
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Work in an agile environment alongside software engineers to implement machine learning features
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in data science, or advanced degree (Master’s/PhD) in a relevant field with no additional experience required
- Production-level experience in Python and machine learning model development
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Ability to translate business problems into data science solutions and communicate results effectively
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or collaboratively
Preferred Skills:
- Background in HR, social science, or psychology
- Experience with cloud development and infrastructure-as-code
- Commitment to staying current in data science methodologies and technologies
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit at a desk/workstation for extended periods (7–8 hours daily)
- Proficient in using computer and phone systems for multiple software applications
