Vanna Health is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Data Engineer to join its growing remote team in the United States. As part of a small but rapidly expanding team, this role provides an opportunity to build foundational data systems from the ground up and directly influence healthcare outcomes through technology.
The Senior Data Engineer will work cross-functionally with engineering, product, operations, and clinical teams to develop scalable data platforms that support population insights, outreach strategies, and improved clinical and financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and manage scalable cloud-based data infrastructure optimized for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Automate data pipelines while implementing monitoring, alerting, and data quality validation processes
- Develop interfaces that enable data access and processing capabilities for internal users and integrated systems
- Design and implement production-ready ML and AI infrastructure in collaboration with data scientists
- Build internal frameworks and self-service tools that accelerate data delivery and operational efficiency
- Support end-to-end ownership of data projects and continuously improve platform capabilities
Requirements:
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in data engineering, machine learning engineering, or backend software development
- Advanced proficiency in Python programming
- Strong experience with Databricks and Apache Spark (preferred)
- Experience with analytical data platforms such as Delta Lake, Snowflake, or BigQuery
- Knowledge of relational databases including PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Intermediate to advanced SQL skills (experience with dbt is a strong advantage)
- Experience building and maintaining production-grade ML/AI systems
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices
- Strong focus on delivering business impact and user-centered solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with healthcare-related datasets
- Experience or interest in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Databricks Asset Bundles
- Experience working in regulated environments
- Background in early-stage startup environments
- Knowledge of streaming or event-driven architectures
