We’re Hiring: Senior Analytics Engineer

Upstart, the leading AI-driven lending marketplace, is seeking a skilled Senior Analytics Engineer to join its centralized analytics engineering team. The ideal candidate will design and develop robust, scalable data models that empower stakeholders to extract actionable insights. This role partners closely with data engineering, platform teams, software engineers, ML engineers, and cross-functional analytics squads to create curated datasets and implement analytics best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teams that produce and consume data to develop end-to-end solutions that maximize data value
  • Lead design and implementation of data models and curated datasets foundational to reporting and analytics
  • Partner with data engineers and platform teams to build and optimize analytics pipelines
  • Educate analytics consumers on BI tools and dashboards to maximize adoption and understanding
  • Act as a strategic partner to analytics squads, contributing to decisions on the analytics roadmap

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or BI Engineer
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts for both transactional and analytical databases
  • Proven ability to lead cross-team projects to deliver data models for analytics and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Expertise in SQL, Python, and ETL optimization techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with BI visualization tools like Mode, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • Familiarity with data mesh architectures and curated data models
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Looker data modeling (LookML), dbt frameworks, Airflow orchestration, schema design, and dimensional modeling
  • Deep understanding of data lake/warehouse architectures (BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift)
