About the role
Reporting to the Director of Revenue Accounting, the Senior Accountant, Revenue will lead month-end revenue close activities, own journal entries and reconciliations, and research complex accounting issues in a fast-growing consumer goods environment. You will provide ASC 606 technical accounting guidance across the business and partner with teams in Sales, Marketing, Finance, IT and Legal to drive correct revenue treatment for contracts, promotions, new products and other initiatives — ensuring full compliance with U.S. GAAP.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute monthly and quarterly revenue close tasks to produce timely, accurate financial statements while maintaining SOX compliance.
- Prepare and substantiate journal entries and perform detailed general ledger account analyses and reconciliations, including subledger reconciliations.
- Conduct ASC 606 contract reviews and provide technical accounting advice to internal stakeholders.
- Partner with AR and order-to-cash teams to validate revenue recognition, including review of credits and adjustments.
- Support budgeting and forecasting by advising FP&A and business partners on accounting implications of plans and initiatives.
- Assist with audits and external reporting, coordinating with external and internal auditors and supporting SEC and tax reporting needs.
- Identify and implement improvements to systems, tools and processes to shorten close cycles and improve reporting insights.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to meet public company audit standards.
- Contribute to ad-hoc projects and participate in weekly team reviews of results and policies.
About You
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting required.
- Certification: CPA active or in progress preferred.
- Experience: Minimum ~3 years in accounting with exposure to public accounting and consumer industries preferred.
- Technical knowledge: Strong command of US GAAP (particularly ASC 606); experience with NetSuite a plus.
- Skills: Advanced Excel ability, strong analytical/problem-solving skills, effective written and verbal communication.
- Work style: Comfortable working in a SOX environment, managing competing deadlines, and able to travel to NYC periodically as required.
