As a Security Engineer at 10a Labs, you will play a key role in protecting cutting-edge AI systems. You will identify vulnerabilities, integrate protections into workflows and code, and collaborate with researchers to minimize risks from adversarial actors. This position requires strong technical skills, a security-first mindset, and adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
In This Role, You Will:
- Conduct threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and red-team style testing of AI systems.
- Design and implement security controls across infrastructure, applications, and data pipelines.
- Build, operate, and maintain detection, monitoring, and incident response capabilities, including investigating incidents and driving remediation.
- Collaborate with engineers and researchers to integrate security best practices into the design and deployment of AI systems.
- Develop automation, tools, and documentation to improve security operations and reduce manual effort.
- Stay updated on emerging threats, particularly in AI/ML, cloud environments, and large-scale distributed systems.

Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in security engineering, application security, detection & response, or penetration testing.
- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong understanding of secure software development practices, including threat modeling, code review, and DevSecOps principles.
- Solid knowledge of cloud security concepts (IAM, VPCs, encryption, logging/monitoring) and secure deployment practices.
- Familiarity with modern infrastructure, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and scalable distributed systems.
- Ability to communicate complex security topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Very Nice To Have:
- Hands-on experience securing AI/ML systems, data pipelines, or large-scale distributed environments.
- Background in offensive security, including exploit development, red teaming, and adversary simulation.
- Awareness of AI-specific risks such as prompt injection, model theft, data poisoning, or adversarial ML.
