As a Remote School Counselor, you will:
- Provide continuous support to students throughout the day via classroom integration and immediate crisis response
- Build meaningful relationships with each student to better understand their needs
- Work closely with the Cloud campus team to design and implement school-wide SEL (Social Emotional Learning) support systems
- Maintain a virtual open-door policy, offering a space for students to manage emotions and resolve challenges as they arise
- Deliver IEP-mandated individual counseling sessions
- Collaborate with students to develop SEL goals and evaluate progress, contributing insights during IEP meetings
- Support educators in monitoring students’ goal achievement and gathering evidence of progress
- Participate in counseling consultations with clinicians for prospective students
- Collaborate with admissions, the Head of School, and learning specialists to assess applicants and provide recommendations
- Communicate regularly with families and external service providers to ensure student needs are fully supported
- Facilitate weekly small group counseling sessions
- Teach health courses through an SEL perspective tailored to campus needs
- Lead Friday classes centered on social skills development
- Organize and supervise social engagement opportunities like lunch bunch and Friday recess
- Draft and routinely update student learning profiles using evaluation data
- Join and sometimes lead professional development sessions and student-focused meetings
- Report major student concerns to the Head of School and help implement targeted action or behavior plans
- Advise faculty on strategies related to executive functioning and classroom management
- Conduct parent support groups and lead educational workshops for families
- Complete social-emotional performance ratings and commentary for each trimester report card
- Oversee intern supervision when applicable
Requirements include:
- Master’s degree in a related counseling or social work field (preferred)
- Relevant state certifications
- At least 2 years of school-based experience (preferred)
- Familiarity with working with gifted or twice-exceptional learners is ideal
- Understanding of CBT, DBT, or Collaborative and Proactive Solutions approaches
