Description:
A research laboratory at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi is seeking a skilled and motivated Research Assistant / Research Associate to join an advanced translational research project. This position is part of a collaborative initiative with the Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC), working closely with Dr. Ruqqia Mir and international research partners. The core focus of the project is multiple sclerosis research with an emphasis on neuroprotection.
The selected candidate will actively contribute to laboratory-based research involving stem cell technology and advanced neuroscience models, particularly iPSC-derived brain organoids. This role is ideal for researchers who are passionate about translational science and patient-focused neurological research.
Key Technical Requirements (Hands-on Experience):
• iPSC culture and development of iPSC-derived brain organoids
• Oligodendrocyte culture techniques and differentiation protocols
• Mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology methods
• Western blotting and RT-qPCR analysis
• Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence techniques
• Confocal microscopy and image-based data analysis
Strong Advantage If You Have Experience In:
• Handling clinical samples, including PBMCs
• Multiple sclerosis–focused research or neurodegenerative disease studies
• Patient recruitment processes and eligibility assessments
• Hospital coordination, informed consent procedures, and clinical data collection
Contract & Start Details:
• Initial contract duration of 1 year
• Extendable up to 3 years based on performance and project needs
• Expected start date: 1st May
