Mercor is seeking experienced Python Developers to collaborate with a leading AI research laboratory on advancing infrastructure for next-generation machine learning systems. This is a fully remote, flexible engagement for engineers with a strong background in open-source contributions and practical software development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, debug, and resolve issues from major open-source repositories.
- Develop, test, and validate code addressing bugs, architectural challenges, or system inefficiencies.
- Implement and optimize APIs, database schemas, and backend components for AI workflows.
- Configure local and containerized environments to reproduce complex software behaviors.
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI research teams to provide technical insights and validated improvements.
Ideal Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience in technically demanding environments.
- Verified contributions to major open-source repositories (e.g., astropy, django, matplotlib, pytest, scikit-learn, sphinx, sympy).
