Description:
A reputable company in the UAE is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Purchase Officer to join its procurement team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in sourcing materials, evaluating supplier quotations, and supporting various procurement and supply chain activities. The position requires close collaboration with sales and procurement teams to ensure timely purchases, effective vendor coordination, and smooth operational workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify purchase requisitions by comparing requested items to the master list, clarifying ambiguities, and recommending suitable alternatives.
- Check available inventory, schedule deliveries, and forward stock items as needed.
- Prepare purchase orders by confirming specifications and prices, consulting suppliers for substitute items, and obtaining departmental approval.
- Process purchase orders by sending them to suppliers, monitoring progress, and expediting deliveries.
- Confirm receipt of items by comparing received goods with orders and resolving discrepancies with suppliers.
- Authorize payments for purchased items by forwarding proper receiving documentation.
- Maintain organized documentation by sorting and filing purchase records.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize purchasing data to provide insights for planning and control purposes.
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in an Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in steel and iron industries.
- Familiarity with Oracle procurement or ERP systems.
- Strong negotiation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams and manage procurement processes efficiently.
