Dollar Tree Stores, a leading value retailer with a presence in over 9,000 communities across the U.S., is seeking a skilled Public Affairs Manager to join their Sustainability and Corporate Affairs team. This role focuses on managing relationships with local governments, community stakeholders, and field leadership, while driving strategic engagement, advocacy, and issues management aligned with the company’s core values of community connection, culture and belonging, and sustainability.
Key responsibilities include serving as the primary liaison to local governments and community organizations, monitoring and responding to local policies and regulatory matters, and advocating for Dollar Tree’s interests while exploring collaboration opportunities. The Public Affairs Manager will build trust and maintain long-term partnerships with nonprofit leaders, advocacy groups, business coalitions, and community influencers, representing the company at meetings, events, public hearings, and forums.
Supporting field operations by empowering store and distribution center leaders as local ambassadors is a key part of the role, along with developing internal communications and providing training materials to facilitate local advocacy efforts. The position also involves issue identification and crisis response coordination, supporting social impact and sustainability initiatives, and contributing to the development of scalable program infrastructure, including stakeholder databases and engagement tracking.
Candidates should bring a deep understanding of local government systems and community dynamics across diverse U.S. regions, combined with strong political and cultural sensitivity. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and travel up to 40% to markets and community events.
